Through the Looking Glass

Through the Looking Glass takes the dichotomy of inside vs outside to create two distinct and differing types of experiences. At the site level, the program is distributed in a series of cube-like volumes that are clad in mirrored glass, acting as a kind of camouflage by reflecting the vineyard landscape back to the visitors, it minimizes the visual impact of the project on the environment. The interiors of each volume are designed as a kind of series of fantasies, referencing possible past, present, and future fictions. As the interior spaces are hidden from the exterior through the one-way mirrored glass, the result is spaces where the enjoyment of wine tasting is enhanced by feelings of whimsy, elegance, and imagination.
