Vertical University

This project embraces a mysterious effect by creating three layers of grid studded with tiny patterns which trace the building’s figure. By appreciating potential for linear manipulation such as indentations along the edge of the patterns and the building itself and subtle misregistration of each layer, this project challenges visual vagueness and fragileness.
The building is composed of four pieces in an arrangement where the pieces leave space with each other to create characteristic voids that are utilized for outdoor communal spaces. Vertical grooves on the building contribute not only to enhance its vagueness, but also to create a multitude of spaces both inside and outside.
